Principal’s Report - Anne McLauchlan

Attached. Discussed topics:

• Proposed changes to after school bus and front gate

monitoring

• Industrial action regarding after and before school

teacher aide duty. The industry has advised that duty The Gap State High School Parents’ and Citizens’ Association

Motion Moved Seconded All accepted outside the gates are not the responsibility of teacher aides or teachers.

• From Term 2 teacher aides will instead be positioned

at every exit gate to manage student traffic as school finishes.

• Deputy principal will be monitoring and managing from

outside the school until the end of Term 1.

• Department of Transport, local state member, local

council member, police have all been consulted and in discussion with the school to look for a more permanent solution for the long term.

• Students will be communicated to regarding flow of

traffic and being careful when arriving and leaving school.

• Julian Simmonds, Federal member for Ryan has

announced that he has funding to add more bus pull in bays for Waterworks Road, though he has not contacted the school specifically about this.

• Uniform
• Students are being informed that uniform

requirements are being enforced more strictly from Term 2.

• Uniform requirements also being communicated to

parents

• Uniform requirements being regulated with teachers,

so enforcement becomes more consistent.

• In Term 2, deputies will be doing uniform checks on

the gates as students enter the school.

• School Master Plan
• Principal has drafted plan and will have school council

and p&c executive review

• Sponsorship invitation for school funding, ie, musical,

equipment, building, sports functions, etc, according to levels of sponsorship. Local businesses invited, so no conflict of interest or bias.

Open day for school is going ahead for first time in 2 years on 20th April That $500 is made available to pay for P&C promotion (eg, tuckshop pop up and tastings) on open day.
