  • Fanfare video (for next meeting) - a fabulous performance.

Well done to all involved

  • Email from Minister for Transport and Main Roads,

unfortunately no cameras for outside the school yet.

  • Ski Trip – 2023 New Zealand for 48 students in the middle of

the year (South Island) - $3200 (5 days of skiing and accommodation – doesn't include lunches and hire gear).

Putting out expression of interest soon.

That we accept the proposal for a New Zealand Ski Trip in 2023.

  • Next Step Report – 80% response rate for survey. 89%

engaged in training/education/working. Snapshot of what they are doing.

  • Uniform Policy update for 2023 – main changes will be Sports

Uniform for APPs, Doc Martin low rise added to acceptable list, wording around nail length.

That we accept the changes to the Uniform Policy for 2023 as per the draft v1.2 October 2022 Erin Williams Christian Xu

Vandalism in toilets and students congregating in and around toilets in large groups. Also finding vapes in the cisterns. Parent (via email) asked about vape detection device for the toilets.

  • Education is happening for Year 7s in APPs and Year 8

education around the effect and health risks.

  • The school is proposing a trial policy around regulating toilet

usage to help address vaping and vandalism.

  • Rachel asked about the actual impact of detentions as part of

this policy and what the escalation process is and whether these measures actually help.

  • Kym asked about what students were given to do during a

detention. Cameron Drew mentioned there was work done around school values and often the work depended on what had brought them to be at a detention in the first place. Kym wondered if rather than using suspension as one of the escalated consequences that community service around the school or a similar option might be helpful. A lot of kids are ‘happy’ to not go to school and don’t see suspension as a ‘consequence’.

  • Wendy asked whether the rules were being enforced in the

same way across the school and spoke of a situation that she knew of where a student wasn’t immediately suspended for vaping (as per the policy) while others were. There needs to be commitment by the school and staff to the consistency of consequence across the board.

  • Wendy was wondering whether there were other education

programs and resources helping schools with the issue of vaping?

ACTION: The P&C to write and send a letter regarding vaping to Grace Grace.

Changes to timetabling (finishing times and sport)

  • Proposed change of position on the timetable for assembly

and connect on a Monday with another extra 10mins added totalling (50mins). There will be a teaching session after this followed by a 20min break (10mins shorter). Teachers will use the afternoon session for whole school ‘non contact’ time to meet in their teaching teams etc. The day would finish with the 20min break which essentially means that students could potentially finish at 1.30pm.

  • Inter school model is changing and moving more towards a

Gala Day model. This has influenced the change in timetabling. Students would no longer have sport on a Wednesday, with the school moving towards hosting Gala Days and Interhouse Carnivals along with what is already offered – swimming and athletics carnival, cross country and camps.

  • Consequence for Tuckshop and Uniform Shop. Does it make

sense to run the service on a Monday for just one break?

  • Janelle wondered if we could we change the day from

Monday? Monday afternoon seemed a little bit disjointed.

ACTION: Further pursual and discussion for the meeting in November.
